So I’m Hormonal. So deal with it! (OK, we will)
At many points in our lives, we step back and evaluate balance. We look at the balance of our work hours vs. our family time, our physical activity vs. our sedentary moments, our quality relationships vs. our more casual acquaintances. Processing the moments of self-evaluation is not only critical to our ongoing personal success, it lays the groundwork for others around us to experience the benefit of each one of us at our best, at our highest operating capacity.
And then we begin to age.
When we are in our 20’s or early 30’s, controlling our own balancing act can be just that…controllable. However, when we move into our 40’s, our bodies sometimes become our worst enemy in the battle for balance. And it doesn’t take a trained medical provider to assess the fact that it is our hormones that have suddenly decided to start playing ping-pong with our body functionality.
Every one of us is actively doing something in response to out-of-balance hormones, even if we don’t recognize it. It could be succumbing to a poor diet; exercising more without seeing any tangible results; ingesting more socially acceptable yet physically harmful substances; becoming irritable, anxious or depressed; or just losing our zest for life. The biggest bummer in this whole battle for balance is that it is not so much a matter of IF these things will happen but more than likely WHEN they will happen. And WHEN they do, we quickly arrive at the point where we wake up each morning knowing that we are unable to control our own individual balance.
This does NOT have to be the case.
Most people have heard of the most common hormones such as thyroid, estrogen and testosterone, but there are many more hormones impacting the balance of the body. Growth hormone, progesterone, DHEA, and cortisol are a few other key hormones that must be in balance to make sure everything is working together towards the optimal health of the body.
Bioidentical Hormones are a key ingredient to getting our balance back. If you hit up Wikipedia, you will read that “bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT), also known as bioidentical hormone therapy or natural hormone therapy, is a term referring to the use of hormones that are identical on a molecular level with endogenous hormones in hormone replacement therapy. It may also be combined with blood and saliva testing of hormone levels, and the use of pharmacy compounding to obtain hormones in an effort to reach a targeted level of hormones in the body.” BodyLogicMD.com breaks it down in even simpler terms describing them as “derived from naturally occurring sources and designed to replicate the same chemical structure as the hormones that are produced naturally by our bodies.” BodyLogic also tells us that “there is an overwhelmingly large body of evidence that supports the claim that bioidentical hormone therapy is safer and more effective than synthetic hormone replacement.”
So, we know there is a problem. We have identified a solution. But none of this matters without action. Total Care Clinics specializes in implementing Bioidentical Hormone Therapy. We work aggressively to find solutions to the elusive balance that each one of our patients are pursuing. But the fact is, every scenario is different, every body has different responses, every time schedule for results can vary. Our guarantee is that we won’t pull a template out of a pre-packaged box and try to force a specific solution. Rather, each of our patients can expect to experience specific, customized care that directly relates to their body composition, their current psychological state, their life circumstances and all their other existing health concerns. Remember, it’s about balance.
